EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

My academic journey so far

Ph.D. (Cultural Studies)
Chinese University of Hong Kong

August 2023 - Expected July 2026

My current research re-examines the act of play and dissects how player identity and agency is reconfigured into different ludic experiences, such as race, gender, and sexuality, in video games.

MPhil (Comparative Literature)
University of Hong Kong

September 2017 – January 2020

My MPhil thesis '‘Writing Hong Kong Identity in Transitional Period Romance Short Stories’' investigates the dialogic relationship between romance as an allegory and identity in the context of Hong Kong Transitional Period (1982-1997). It received an “outstanding” remark from my thesis committee.

B.A. (Comparative Literature)
University of Hong Kong

September 2012 – June 2016

My BA training mainly involved literary and critical theory, postcolonial studies, queer studies, and Hong Kong studies. Other than majoring in Comparative Literature, I also minored in Korean Studies and went to Seoul National University (2015-16) as an exchange student under the HKU Worldwide Exchange Scholarship—where I not only improved my language proficiency but also sparked my interest in Existentialist thoughts and works, which later inspired my MPhil project.
